I'd like to know your opinion on some free2play mmorpgs as someone who loves WoW so much. Could you publish a rating of some of the new f2p games like Vindictus/Mabinogi Heroes if you get the chance of playing them?
I could use a good mmorpg but I'm currently too cheap for WoW :P

Eminence Hmmmmm, okay.. but in the meanwhile.. you can try Perfect World. It's a f2p mmorpg.. chinese wow clone. ;)
Oct. 08 10
yokiharo I didn't like it too much when I tried it some time ago... Has a somewhat unfinished feeling to it and I've seen some other better f2p MMO's like LOTRO. But thanks!

Eminence How about Fiesta? I saw my bro's gf playing that for awhile.. I have never tried it as it looks too cute for me.. >_<
Oct. 08 10
yokiharo Ahah. I've tried Fiesta some years ago and I know some other better mmo's atm ;P
Do you know Allods? Imo its better than Fiesta and Perfect World. And you should definitely check out Vindictus! Huge quality for a f2p, best graphics and physics I've seen in a mmo, f2p or p2p, but still I'm looking for a bit more... More storyline-based I guess...

Eminence I spent my entire life in WoW... only goto try other mmos when I was with Razer.. and my current job, i don't try new games. Guess being in a hardware company opens me to more games! ;)
Oct. 08 10
yokiharo Oki, but make sure you try some new games once in a while if you ever get bored of WoW, if that's possible for you :P
Oct. 08 10
MisterMooth Check out Runes of Magic. It's fantastic.
Oct. 08 10
Eminence Yeah, I heard of that game..but I'm still stuck on WoW, lol! xD

Cataclysm is coming on the 7th of December 2010! Damn excited!
Oct. 08 10
yokiharo Hope it turns out well for all of you WoWies and adds a lot more value to WoW ^^
I'll check it out eventually if I have the chance.

Eminence You should check it out some day. It's the best mmo till date.. I can send you a free trial account! Lols. ;)
Oct. 08 10
yokiharo Well, I've tried WoW when it was at 3.3.0 or something. Got to almost top gs on both human rogue and belf pala but I must admit I was expecting a bit more with all the hype around it. My main reason to try it was because I finished Warcraft 3 campaign and I was curious about the storyline :P
Oct. 08 10
Eminence The highest gs i saw was like 6.8k gs... seriously, you need a really hardcore guild to achieve that.. I need to scout for a new guild! ;)
The hype will be all about Cataclysm for now.. you should come back during Cata.

yokiharo I'll try! :D
I hope Cataclysm brings some more storyline and universe goodies than just more PVP and PVE to grind on :P

Eminence There's this thing that I don't understand. Everyone says WoW is a grinding game, but I find that all games are grinding games.. Like for example, COD3 - I have to grind kills to get better weapons and level up to unlock more features too.. so i hide at the graveyard and grind my kills there killing those player spawns... most games requires some sort of grind imo.

yokiharo It depends on how you look at it, I guess. The way I look at it, I think that in a game like WoW, your character defines you, limits you and allows you to do certain things. You invest on it, money and time, repetitively, with the goal of having the best char.
What happens in a game like COD, is that the progression is there only to give some depth to the game, so it's not just a brainless shoot'em up, because what really matters is the skill of the player based on the current situation and what he can do with what he has.
For example, you're in a raid in WoW. Since maybe you have low hp but high attack, you die while damaging 50% a certain boss.
In COD, even a level 1 player could win a round with skill alone against a team of maxed level players who play too much time just to level up and know nothing about skill.
I'm not saying WoW doesn't require skill, it does, but in different aspects. I like some grind myself, but not when it defines the goal of the whole game, to see who has got the highest gs, if you know what I mean.

Eminence You do know that gs has been around in wow since long ago right? GS = total sums up of item level. It's not new, it's just an addon people make to calculate your total GS instead of having to look up the player on armory before inviting to raids. This is another issue of what i don't understand why people are crying over gs. A mage/warlock with lower gs can easily out dps another player if with skills. My group of friends, we don't bother much about gs but gs + skills = leet. :)
Oct. 08 10
yokiharo Yeah I do, I'm not crying over gs, it's just that it seems like it's the whole purpose of the game, and I just don't get it. It's the gear that defines your character in the end. Shouldn't it be something else? Something that didn't necessarily involve grinding PVE and PVP tons of times?
IMO, gs > skills in WoW most of the times, unfortunately. Once you get to a certain degree of skill automation and environment reaction, it doesn't matter that much who's behind that character, as long as it has enough gs to pwn. Most people don't even mess up with their builds anymore to try new stuff, they just follow builds they see on the internet so they know they'll have a good char for sure.
But this is just an opinion from a noob at WoW, you probably know better how it really is than I do xD

Eminence Sorry, not saying that you're crying but many emo kids are. >_<
This gs thingy is really painful... i can find a lower gs tank better at tanking then a higher gs tank... but GS is still important in a raid.. because it defines your gears, better spell power.. better defense .. everything.. sigh.. It's just WoW, lols... ;)

Eminence Thanks for the recommendation DjAlpha, but the cinematic of Priston II looks so similar to WoW. Can't shake WoW off my head but I'll definitely try Priston II! :)

May. 20 10

GW is the only mmorpg that is comparable to WoW - If you love WoW, You will love GW too. They have similar gameplay mechanism and the best part about GW is, it's a F2P game. No monthly subscription.

Lineage II is only for the super hardcores - Lose your level & loots if someone ganks you & wins. Didn't get a chance to play as shops stopped selling this game due to popularity & lack of players.
